Wishes
Annette Marie Hyder

I wish you renewal, an evergreen forest with lofty branches that dance in the winds of the sky, intensity, the color of red berries, sugared with snow and sparkling with ice, forgiveness, a tabula rasa like sheets of snow as far as your eyes can see, and a star, your very own personal star, to show you a way, in celestial suggestiveness, that you might like to go. And I wish you a wolf to companion you so you have someone with whom to howl down the moon.

May your green trees be covered in flowers that look like white gift bows and may the petals from those white flowers fall and fall (as you rub your eyes) covering everything as if they are being shaken from the sky, leaving snow petals, a huge bouquet that fills up the frosty vase of your window.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas 2012!

A Cold Morning

By Annette Marie Hyder

Frost rides the pale blue horse of sky
that comes galloping through the dark woods of my dreams.
The birds take to the air to trail in long reins of song.
My heart is the grass, green and glad in its clover
beneath the mounting dawn.
