Last night I tucked my head under the blankets of night,
By Annette Marie Hyder
black and embroidered bright with stars.
The moonlight curled like a white cat
purring at my feet
while I stayed up late to read the story of you.
The wind sighed through the branches
and made me shiver to recall
the whisper of your voice
against my hair
and winding through the chambers of my ear.
Your breath carried keys and opened up doors
that made me wish and want and need
to listen to so much more.
So, sign the guest book of my mind.
You spent the night in my dreams.
