Come, Let Us Eat the Honey of Wild Words
By Annette Marie Hyder

I want to eat poetry like honey
right off the comb
and dripping deliciously
for another’s tongue
to dip into as well —
honey for two with the feel of wild words
still buzzing
and the smell of clover and lilacs,
roses and sweetsuckle
but also containing the dizzy rocking of rope ladders
used to reach the impossible heights
of Himalayan mountain honey caves
and rhododendron sighs.
